KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - Unable to photograph or video a KSC Shuttle landing, which instead occurred at Edwards Air Force Base in California, the media focus on the workers at the NASA News Center who follow the path of Discovery on television and computers. Due to weather concerns, the landing was deferred to the alternate site. The 13-day, 21-hour Return to Flight STS-114 mission ended on Runway 22 at 8:11:22 a.m. EDT with Mission Commander Eileen Collins on the controls. Discovery spent two weeks in space, where the crew demonstrated new methods to inspect and repair the Shuttle in orbit. The crew also delivered supplies, outfitted and performed maintenance on the International Space Station. A number of these tasks were conducted during three spacewalks.
