CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – On Launch Pad 39A, the payload ground-handling mechanism moves back after placing the multi-purpose logistics module Leonardo in space shuttle Discovery's payload bay. Leonardo is the primary payload on Discovery's STS-128 mission to the International Space Station. Beneath the module is the Lightweight Multi-Purpose Experiment Support Structure Carrier. Discovery will deliver 33,000 pounds of equipment to the station, including science and storage racks, a freezer to store research samples, a new sleeping compartment and the COLBERT treadmill.
