CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – A crowd turns out to catch a glimpse of space shuttle Atlantis as it travels down the NASA Causeway on its approach to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. Atlantis is nearing the end of its 10-mile journey from Kennedy's Vehicle Assembly Building to its new home. As part of transition and retirement of the Space Shuttle Program, Atlantis will be displayed in a new exhibit hall at Kennedy's visitor complex beginning in the summer of 2013. Over the course of its 26-year career, Atlantis traveled 125,935,769 miles, completing 33 missions during 307 days in space. For more information, visit http://www.nasa.gov/transition.
