Orion Underway Recovery Tests 3 & 4

A test version of Orion floats into the well deck of the Navy's USS Anchorage during recovery tests off the coast of California on Sept. 15, 2014. The well deck can be flooded with water to allow Orion to float in, and then drained when the spacecraft is secured. A combined NASA and U.S. Navy team has been practicing recovery techniques in preparation for Exploration Flight Test-1 (EFT-1).
