ECLIPSE scans its photometer fields of view (FOV) along the orbit plane looking behind the ISS to measure the vertical distribution of airglow emissions and cross-track below the ISS to observe the horizontal distribution of the airglow emissions. The observations are tomographically inverted to infer the 3D ionospheric structure.
