Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.; Family: Leguminosae), commonly known as methi, sprouted in a petri dish. Methi, along with greengram (mung bean) seeds, is part of the experiment titled "Sprouting Salad Seeds in Space: Relevance to Crew Nutrition". This research is being conducted by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dharwad, Karnataka, India. The experiment is scheduled to fly on Axiom-4 mission to the ISS as a part of joint ISRO and NASA microgravity experiment aimed at understanding plant growth and nutritional sustainability in space environments.
