SUBSA-InSPA-SSCug

Torrential Downpour: Optical Micrograph depicting the morphology of Semimetal-Semiconductor Composite (SSC) wafer with semimetal phases embedded in the semiconductor matrix. This wafer was extracted from a space grown crystal in the ISS-SUBSA-MSG facility during Mission 1. The appearance of the semimetal phase resembles a rain shower during a torrential downpour. The homogeneous morphology and spatial distribution of semimetal phases embedded in semiconductor matrix in space grown crystals results in significant enhancement of device performance and improved yield of electromagnetic sensors compared to their terrestrial counterparts.
