Providencia Island, located in the Caribbean Sea, is part of Colombia even though located 800 km northwest of mainland Colombia. The small island has an area of 17 square kilometers. First settled in 1629 by Puritans on the Seaflower ship, the island was taken by Spain in 1641. Providencia is the center point of the UNESCO Marine Protected Area the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve. This is a radar image of a little known volcano in northern Colombia. The image was acquired on orbit 80 of space shuttle Endeavour on April 14, 1994, by NASA Spaceborne Imaging Radar C/X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar SIR-C/X-SAR.  The volcano near the center of the image is located at 5.6 degrees north latitude, 75.0 degrees west longitude, about 100 kilometers (65 miles) southeast of Medellin, Colombia. The conspicuous dark spot is a lake at the bottom of an approximately 3-kilometer-wide (1.9-mile) volcanic collapse depression or caldera. A cone-shaped peak on the bottom left (northeast rim) of the caldera appears to have been the source for a flow of material into the caldera.  This is the northern-most known volcano in South America and because of its youthful appearance, should be considered dormant rather than extinct. The volcano's existence confirms a fracture zone proposed in 1985 as the northern boundary of volcanism in the Andes. The SIR-C/X-SAR image reveals another, older caldera further south in Colombia, along another proposed fracture zone. Although relatively conspicuous, these volcanoes have escaped widespread recognition because of frequent cloud cover that hinders remote sensing imaging in visible wavelengths.  Four separate volcanoes in the Northern Andes nations of Colombia and Ecuador have been active during the last 10 years, killing more than 25,000 people, including scientists who were monitoring the volcanic activity. Detection and monitoring of volcanoes from space provides a safe way to investigate volcanism. The recognition of previously unknown volcanoes is important for hazard evaluations because a number of major eruptions this century have occurred at mountains that were not previously recognized as volcanoes.  http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA01722

Undocking of the two spacecraft occurred at 7:52 a.m. (CDT) on April 17, 2010, ending a stay of 10 days, 5 hours and 8 minutes. The visit included three spacewalks and delivery of more than seven tons of equipment and supplies. The recognizable feature on Earth below is the south end of Isla de Providencia, about 150 miles off the coast of Nicaragua near 13.3 degrees north latitude 81.4 degrees west longitude. The island belongs to Colombia.

This image taken by NASA's Dawn spacecraft shows Duginavi Crater, a large (96 miles, 155 kilometers in diameter) crater on Ceres. Duginavi's degraded rim barely stands out in this picture, which indicates this feature is very old.  There are several factors that alter and eventually erase the shapes of geological features on bodies that do not have an atmosphere. These include gravity, which is responsible for landslides and scarps. The formation of newer craters, and the material that gets ejected in the process, has smoothed over craters such as Duginavi.  Duginavi hosts the small Oxo Crater, recognizable by its bright rim and ejecta. Oxo is the first site at which ice was discovered on Ceres.  Duginavi is named for an agriculture god of the Kogi people of northern Colombia. Oxo bears the name of the god of agriculture in Afro-Brazilian beliefs of Yoruba derivation. These features can be found on the global map of Ceres.  Dawn took this image on October 8, 2015, from its high-altitude mapping orbit, at a distance of about 915 miles (1,470 kilometers) above the surface. It has a resolution of 450 feet (140 meters) per pixel.
