CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – The payload fairing protecting NOAA’s Deep Space Climate Observatory spacecraft, or DSCOVR, tops the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket set to lift off at 6:10 p.m. EST from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. DSCOVR will give NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) forecasters more reliable measurements of solar wind conditions, improving their ability to monitor potentially harmful solar activity.
