NASA Spitzer Space Telescope captured this infrared image of a giant halo of very fine dust around the young star HR 8799, located 129 light-years away in the constellation Pegasus.
A Picture of Unsettled Planetary Youth
This diagram illustrates two similar star systems, HD 95086 and HR 8799. Evidence from NASA Spitzer Space Telescope has pointed to the presence of two dust belts in each system.
Sibling Star Systems? Dust Structures Suggest So
This image shows the HR 8799 planets with starlight optically suppressed and data processing conducted to remove residual starlight. Project 1640, NASA JPL used the Palomar Observatory near San Diego to obtain detailed spectra of the four planets.

NASA image release Oct. 6, 2011 This is an image of the star HR 8799 taken by Hubble's Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) in 1998. A mask within the camera (coronagraph) blocks most of the light from the star. In addition, software has been used to digitally subtract more starlight. Nevertheless, scattered light from HR 8799 dominates the image, obscuring the faint planets. Object Name: HR 8799 Image Type: Astronomical Credit: NASA, ESA, and R.
