S126-E-008892 (21 Nov. 2008) --- This image, recorded in the late evening hours of Nov. 21, Houston time,  shows astronaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper on the mid deck of the Space Shuttle Endeavour.  Just a few hours after this photo was taken, Stefanyshyn-Piper was one of two astronauts who started prepping for the joint crews' third spacewalk (and Stefanyshyn-Piper's third) of the week. Members of the shuttle and station crews,  commanded by astronauts Chris Ferguson and  Michael Fincke, respectively, are spending close to two weeks in space together, accomplishing home improvement chores and a number of other tasks.

During today's spacewalk, Tanner and Stefanyshyn-Piper worked to connect power cables on the P3/P4 truss, release restraints for the Solar Array Blanket Boxes that hold the solar arrays and the Beta Gimbal Assemblies that serve as the structural link between the truss' integrated electronics and the Solar Array Wings. Stefanyshyn-Piper and Tanner also installed the Solar Alpha Rotary Joint and completed the connection of electrical cables between the new P3 truss and the P1 truss.

From left, astronauts Donald Pettit, Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper and Michael Fincke pose for a photo on the middeck of Endeavour on the eve of the day the crews of the space shuttle and the orbital outpost's Expedition 18 went separate ways. During the six-hour, 57-minute spacewalk, Bowen and astronaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper (out of frame), mission specialist, focused their efforts on the continued cleaning of the station's starboard solar alpha rotary joint (SARJ) and the removal and replacement of trundle bearing assemblies (TBA). Bowen and Piper also cleaned the area around the SARJ's drive lock assemblies, which help the joint to rotate and lock into place.

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -   Inside Atlantis' cockpit, STS-115 Mission Specialists Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper and Joseph Tanner are taking part in a simulated launch countdown, the culmination of Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test activities.    The TCDT is a prelaunch preparation for the mission that is scheduled to lift off in a window opening Aug. 27. During their 11-day mission to the International Space Station, the STS-115 crew will continue construction of the station and attach the payload elements, the Port 3/4 truss segment with its two large solar arrays.
