iss073e0768479 (Sept. 26, 2005) --- NASA astronaut and Expedition 73 Flight Engineer Johnny Kim works with DNA encoded with encrypted messages to demonstrate the feasibility of using DNA as a medium for securely encoding, transmitting, and decoding data both in space and on Earth. This investigation, Voyager DNA Decryption, could reduce the weight and energy requirements of traditional data storage for deep space missions.
