ISS008-E-05181 (31 October 2003) --- Astronaut C. Michael Foale, Expedition 8 mission commander and NASA ISS science officer, works with the Russian biomedical “Pilot” experiment (MBI-15) in the Zvezda Service Module on the International Space Station (ISS). The experiment, which looks at psychological and physiological changes in crew performance during long-duration spaceflight, requires a worktable, ankle restraint system and two control handles for testing piloting skill.

Dr. Shanique Brown, an assistant professor of industrial-organizational psychology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, delivers the Black History Month keynote address to team members at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center Feb. 28. Participants mingled with Brown and Marshall leaders after the speech and a panel discussion on diversity and inclusion, and sampled a variety of ethnic foods. The 2019 commemoration, themed "Migrations From Here to There," was organized by Marshall's Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity

Av Szyller of Covington, La., recounts his experiences as a Jew living in occupied France in the early 1940s during a Holocaust Days of Remembrance gathering at Stennis Space Center on May 12. Szyller was arrested by Nazi soldiers but managed to escape France after several close calls. However, he lost his father and other family members in Auschwitz. Szyller, 83, returned to Europe in 1945 as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. After the war, he located to Louisiana, where he practices clinical psychology.
