KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. - In the Orbiter Processing Facility, Mike Bolt holds the Stanley Cup, won this year by the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightning. Bolt is the Stanley Cup keeper. The cup was also briefly available for viewing by employees in the KSC Training Auditorium. Jay Feaster, general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, brought the cup to KSC while on a tour. The Stanley Cup weighs 35 pounds and is more than 100 years old. The Lightning will be added to the cup in September.

ISS009-E-18123 (21:08:33 GMT, 12 August 2004) --- This panoramic view of Hurricane Charley was taken by the Expedition 9 crew of the International Space Station just after 5PM (EDT), August 12, 2004. The Category Two Hurricane was in the northwest Caribbean Sea, 140 miles south-southeast of Havana, Cuba moving north-northwest at 18mph packing winds of 105mph. In this view looking southeast, the newly formed eye of the storm is just visible and the west coast of Florida from Naples to Tampa Bay may be seen on the right.

ISS026-E-013115 (28 Dec. 2010) --- From 220 miles above Earth, one of the Expedition 26 crew members used a 32-mm lens to capture this night time image of much of the Florida peninsula. The picture needs to be rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise to situate north at the top. St. Petersburg, Tampa Bay and Fort Myers can be easily delineated on the Gulf of Mexico (top in the original orientation) side and the spread-out bright lights of the Orlando area appear near frame center. Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center can also be spotted on the Atlantic side of Florida, with lights of Jacksonville visible further northward.
Earth Observations taken by the Expedition 26 Crew
This panoramic view of Hurricane Charley was photographed by the Expedition 9 crew aboard the International Space Station (ISS) on August 13, 2004, at a vantage point just north of Tampa, Florida. The small eye was not visible in this view, but the raised cloud tops near the center coincide roughly with the time that the storm began to rapidly strengthen. The category 2 hurricane was moving north-northwest at 18 mph packing winds of 105 mph. Crew Earth Observations record Earth surface changes over time, as well as more fleeting events such as storms, floods, fires, and volcanic eruptions.
