This experiment is part of Development Test Objective (DTO) 647, Water Separator Filter Performance Evaluation. Astronauts Bryan D. O'Connor, mission commander, and Sidney M. Gutierrez, pilot, carried out the test and down linked television to the ground for engineering analysis.

NASA’s Beaming Energy for Air Mobility team successfully completed a first-of-its-kind power beaming test at NASA Glenn on June 4, 2025. Later this year, the tested transmitter will be used in a demonstration to wirelessly transmit power using microwaves to a custom power receiver — a step toward gap-filling technology that could one day deliver power on the surface of the Moon or Mars. 61B-08-026 (1 Dec 1985) --- Astronaut Jerry L. Ross was photographed by astronaut Bryan D. O'Connor through Atlantis's airlock as the mission specialist, fully equipped with his red-striped, white extravehicular mobility unit (EMU), moved out into the cargo bay to begin one of two lengthy extravehicular activities (EVA) on the week-long STS 61-B mission.

NASA’s Beaming Energy for Air Mobility team successfully completed a first-of-its-kind power beaming test at NASA Glenn. Later this year, the tested transmitter will be used in a demonstration to wirelessly transmit power using microwaves to a custom power receiver — a step toward gap-filling technology that could one day deliver power on the surface of the Moon or Mars. Seth Waldstein, Seth Schisler and Bryan Schoenholz are in the control room reviewing the data.

STS040-17-003 (5-14 June 1991) --- Astronauts Rhea Seddon and Bryan D. O'Connor share a 15 ft. length of teleprinter messages aboard Columbia. During the nine-day Spacelab Life Sciences (SLS-1) mission, the STS-40 crewmembers received a large volume of similar print-outs from ground controllers. Using foot restraints, the two obviously expect their perusing to take awhile. This middeck scene was photographed with a 35mm camera.

STS040-S-174 (14 June 1991) --- The Space Shuttle Columbia is only moments away from touchdown on Runway 22 at Edwards Air Force Base in California. The landing completes a successful nine-day Spacelab Life Sciences (SLS-1) mission, the first ever devoted exclusively to life sciences research. Onboard the spacecraft were astronauts Bryan D. O'Connor, Sidney M. Gutierrez, Rhea Seddon, James P. Bagian and Tamara E. Jernigan; and payload specialists F. Drew Gaffney and Millie Hughes-Fulford. Landing occurred at 8:39:11 a.m. (PDT), June 14, 1991.
