NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California marched in the LA Pride Parade in June 2023.  This was NASA Armstrong’s first time participating in the parade, and many NASA employees attended to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and allyship.  NASA’s team included engineers, scientists, technicians, and mission support folks who enrich the organization by showing up as themselves.  On Earth and at NASA, there is space for everyone.

The City of Huntsville hosted a celebration of the Apollo 11 Moon landing with a street party on the downtown square with exhibits from the Marshall Space Flight Center and contributing contractors. The event was kicked off with remarks from Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Marshall Space Flight Center's Director Jody Singer, and U.S. Space and Rocket Center's Director Deborah Barnhart with the Polaris replica of the Lunar Moon Buggy in the foreground. The Polaris Lunar Rover replica leads the parade into the Huntsville Square

NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center showcased it's various projects for the public in Huntsville, Alabama's Big Spring Park. Exhibits were displayed by all of the various directorates of the Center with employee volunteers explaining all aspects of their projects. Adding to the festivities was the attendance of retired NASA astronaut Robert "Hoot" Gibson. The children’s parade at NASA Day in the Park is led by center director Todd May, Chad Emerson, and Retired astronaut Robert “Hoot” Gibson.

The red smudge at the center of this image is the first comet discovered by NASA Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer, or WISE. The comet is a dusty mass of ice and parades around the sun every 4.7 years.
